Sun Hee Moon - contemporary visual artist
"My name means happiness. But my shadow says inadequate and my steps say clumsy."
Sun Hee Moon, born in Seoul (South Korea) in 1970, moved to Brazil at the age of two. She grows into a small suburb of Rio de Janeiro (Niteròi), experiencing the particular
condition of not only being one of the only oriental kids of that context, but also that
of belonging to a micro-community of immigrants. She graduated in 1995 at the faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Mackenzie University of São Paulo. The
artist proposes an art that feeds on the most disparate stimuli, coming from her culture origin and from contact with various places in the world,
including Italy, where she moved to in 1998, settling in Grado, where she still resides and works. Her work as a Korean visual artist in Italy led her to collaborate with Korean Institutions in Milan and Rome. Growing from painting to more material creations, recently she has also created design pieces that were presented in group exhibitions at the prestigious“Fuorisalone 2023”in Milan and at the“Green blue days”in Napoli. She has recently created a design furniture for a Korean company with an eye on ecological material and 3D printing.
